The Catalan Institute of Oncology is a public company, one of the objectives of which is the promotion of corporate social responsibility as a guarantee of economic and environmental sustainability and social commitment.
It aims to promote a healthcare management model from the perspective of corporate social responsibility, focused on:
1) Promoting measures of economic sustainability.
2) Rationalising and optimising the use of energy resources.
3) Improving the work climate and increasing the company’s commitment, through the application of measures that are people-focused, especially in the area of equal opportunities for employees.
4) Positioning the organisation as a responsible company in the social and institutional sphere.

The Code of Good Governance of the Catalan Institute of Oncology includes the main principles of ethics and conduct that should guide the actions of the members of the Board of Directors in carrying out their duties.
This code is the result of intense and participative work carried out by the professional who work daily at the three centres of our Institute.
The objective of the code is to describe the values, ethical standards and deontological principles that must inspire, guide and define the conduct of the healthcare professional. Concretely, it aims to guarantee fair, rational and compassionate treatment: ‘thinking like a patient’.
The Catalan Institute of Oncology declares its commitment to the establishment of policies that integrate equal treatment and opportunities for women and men, without direct or indirect discrimination on grounds of sex and the promotion and encouragement measures to achieve real equality in our organization.
So that equality becomes a reality palpable in labor relations and everyday Institute in 2011 constituted the Commission for Equality and developed the first Equal Opportunities Plan.
Since 2015 the ICO is part of the network of companies with the Company's Distinctive Equality in the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.
The Catalan Institute of Oncology seeks to guarantee and express its commitment to society at large and the local community, by lessening cancer’s impact on the population and improving quality of life.
In order to do so, it develops alliances with different institutions and a series of initiatives to support and accompany the patient and his or her family, complementing the healthcare services offered.
The Catalan Institute of Oncology applies its environmental policy, making rational use of energy and emissions, responsible consumption of water, careful treatment of waste generated. In order to advance the continuous improvement of environmental practices is a member of the global network of green and healthy hospitals and is adhered to the program of voluntary agreements to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
The Catalan Institute of Oncology lends its support to the ten principles of the Global Compact on matters of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption. By adhering to the Global Compact, we expressed our intention to support and implement these principles as part of the framework of the work we carry out in our sphere of influence. We also provide periodic updates on this commitment to our stakeholders and the general public.
